Probably Stolen Guide

Wanted List: All 9 Criminals & Who to Report

Updated · Characters

Quick answer

There are 9 wanted criminals worth 3,600 credits in total: Lou 1,500, the Butcher 450, Li Bei Wen 400, James Bailey 300, Odin Haraldsson 300, Leroy 300, Juan 125, John Smith 125 and Arthur Lafleur 100. Report one by comparing the face with the poster and holding the teal Call Security button (+5 Security rep; a false report costs rep and a 50-credit fine). Most are worth more spared: don't report John Smith (weekly big food buyer) or the Butcher (he hunts you at night if you do).

All 9, and whether to report

Criminal Bounty If you spare them Verdict
Lou 1,500 She leaves and never returns Report only if you can handle her revenge — see Lou
The Butcher 450 Weekly raw-meat supplier Spare — reporting means he hunts you at night
Li Bei Wen 400 Asks for chemical supplies, then gives the Nomore Injector formula and 2 high-purity injectors ⚠️ Spare if you play chemist — see chemistry
James Bailey 300 Sells stolen Security gear every 14 days ⚠️ Spare; reporting him reportedly costs Lower Levels rep
Odin Haraldsson 300 Revolution contact card and phone procurement ⚠️ Spare for a Revolution run
Leroy 300 — Report — he poses as a Security inspector
Juan 125 Food supplier ⚠️ Spare (demo data said 75; 1.0 is 125)
John Smith 125 Big weekly food buyer, growing budget Never report
Arthur Lafleur 100 Day 3 tutorial; sparing him gives +15 Revolution ⚠️ Either

Bounties ✅ (allthings.how, gitm.gg, fan wikis). The “if you spare them” column comes partly from one datamined fan guide ⚠️. With the Model Citizen perk bounties are +50%; with Convict −25%.

The Steam community’s verdict: the Wanted List is mostly a red herring — the regulars are worth more alive than their bounties.

How reporting works

  1. Compare the customer’s face with the poster (the Butcher, for one, is only labelled “Lower Level Citizen”).
  2. Hold the teal Call Security button for about half a second.
  3. Correct: you get the bounty and +5 Security rep. Wrong: about −8 Security rep and a 50-credit fine.

Reporting can lower your standing with the Revolution, and the Known Snitch perk stops wanted people from visiting at all. Too many reports can matter for factions.

The Butcher: if you already reported him

Players on the Steam forum agree: after the threat note and cleaver, you can’t go out at night without a gun and ammo, and Sawyer’s Crew’s butcher-hunting service is the only known way to end it. (One player was told by an AI chatbot that you can kill him at night for a special weapon — that isn’t in the game.)

John Smith and the Butcher

Players noticed John Smith often visits right after the Butcher and buys his meat. Nothing in the game confirms a link — but both are more profitable spared.

FAQ

How do you report a criminal in Probably Stolen?

While they're at the window, compare their face with the Wanted poster, then press and hold the teal Call Security (alarm) button for about half a second. Officer Lun explains this on Day 1: only report them if you're sure.

Should I report the Butcher?

Usually not. If you leave him alone he comes back weekly as a meat supplier. If you report him he retaliates — vandalism, a threat note and a cleaver — and after that you can't leave at night without a firearm. Players say the only fix is Sawyer's Crew's hunting service (about 500 credits).

Should I report John Smith?

No. He returns every week and buys a lot of food, with a budget that keeps growing (players report 300–500). One report ends that permanently, for a 125 bounty.

What happens if I report the wrong person?

You lose Security reputation (−8) and pay a 50-credit fine (allthings.how). Leroy is the one to watch: he impersonates a Security inspector, so compare his face too.

How do I get Snitches Get Riches?

Report 10 criminals. There are only 9 on the poster and some return after release, so it can take more than one run — 4.8% of players had it on Nov 1.
